In a gala full of emotion and recognition of the capital’s talent, the 2025 edition of the Acord Bogotá Athlete of the Year was held. The event, held this Monday, January 26 at the Compensar Convention Center, brought together the elite of Bogotá sports to exalt their achievements in national and international competitions during the last year.

The ceremony, which is already a benchmark with more than 26 years of history, was broadcast live on the Colombian Olympic Committee channel.

The highest award of the night, the Golden Chibcha, was in the hands of two extraordinary women.

In the conventional system, the athlete Natalia Carolina Linares won the golden statuette, establishing herself as the most relevant figure in the capital.

For her part, in the Paralympic system, Daniela Colmenares Peñaloza (athletics for the deaf and mute) received the Chibcha de Oro, reaffirming the dominance of athletics in the main categories of the award.

The sporting excellence extended to other outstanding figures: Gabriela Isabel Rueda (skating) and Diego Germán Dueñas (paracycling) won the Silver Chibchas, while Valeria Arboleda (boxing) and Sara del Pilar Vargas (paraswimming) won the Bronze.

In the professional field, tennis player María Angélica Bernal was recognized as the best in her category, and the Independiente Santa Fe club took the award for Best Bogota Team.

The gala not only rewarded current performance, but also future performance and experience. María Valeria Hernández and Gabriela Oviedo Rueda were distinguished as the conventional and Paralympic sports promises, respectively.

Likewise, the “A Lifetime of Sports Excellence” award was awarded to boxer Alexander Brand, and special recognition to the Minister of Sports, Patricia Duque, and to the VIGOR entity for their 20 years of experience.

Finally, the Sports Writers Association dedicated a solemn space to the ‘Life and Work of a Sports Journalist’.

In this edition, the careers of four communication leaders were honored: Antonio Andraus Burgos, Guillermo Díaz Salamanca, Héctor Palau Saldarriaga and Oscar Munévar Forero.

Their contributions were highlighted as fundamental pillars for the enhancement of journalism and sports narrative in the Colombian capital.
