Two people of foreign nationality were captured in flagrante delicto in the south of Bogotá for their alleged participation in an extortion case, after an operation coordinated between the National Army and the Attorney General’s Office, within the framework of actions against criminal economies that affect merchants and citizens.
The procedure was carried out in the María Paz neighborhood, in the town of Kennedy, where troops from the Military Gaula of Brigade 13, in coordination with officials from the CTI Gaula Bogotá, carried out monitoring and intelligence work that allowed them to identify the exact moment in which the alleged perpetrators would try to collect the payment demanded from the victim.
According to official information, the subjects were intercepted when, apparently, they were preparing to receive five million pesos, money that they had extorted from a merchant in the sector, owner of an automotive mechanics workshop. According to the authorities, the financial demand would be accompanied by threats against the personal integrity of the affected person and the continuity of their commercial activity.
The captures were possible thanks to the timely complaint of the victim, who went to the authorities and allowed the activation of the accompaniment, verification and monitoring protocol, which led to the capture of the alleged extortionists in flagrante delicto without the required payment being made.

In the development of the first investigations, the authorities established that the detainees were alleged members of the transnational organized criminal structure ‘Tren de Aragua’, a criminal organization noted for its participation in crimes such as extortion, kidnapping and other high-impact conduct in different regions of the country.
Once the procedure was carried out, those captured were placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, which will be in charge of carrying out the preliminary hearings and defining their legal situation in accordance with the law.
The authorities highlighted that this result is part of the military and judicial offensive being carried out against extortion and kidnapping in Bogotá and Cundinamarca, framed in the Ayacucho Plus Plan, a strategy that seeks to weaken criminal structures, protect merchants and strengthen citizen security in prioritized areas.
Finally, the National Army reiterated the call to citizens to immediately report any incident related to extortion or kidnapping through the national toll-free number 147, remembering that the information provided by the community is essential.
