The morning of this Monday, January 26, began with serious trauma for drivers traveling through western Bogotá.

A spectacular multiple crash, in which five private vehicles were involved, paralyzed the expressway on 26th Street, exactly at the El Dorado Portal. The incident, which occurred in the west-east direction, has generated endless lines of vehicles seeking to connect with the city center, forcing traffic authorities to carry out partial closures in this strategic corridor.

Towards the early hours of the morning, the official mobility report confirmed that the impact between the five cars blocked a large part of the vehicular flow in the town of Fontibón.

Civil traffic agents and units of the Bogotá Metropolitan Police were present at the point to begin the expert assessment and coordinate the removal of the vehicles with tow trucks. However, the incident was not the only headache for the residents of the capital; While the main emergency was being attended to, another road accident was reported on the same avenue, but at the height of Carrera 91.

In this second event, in an east-west direction, a bus from the zonal system collided with a cyclist, which ended up collapsing mobility on both roads of El Dorado Avenue.

TransMilenio users and drivers of private vehicles have reported delays of more than 40 minutes on their usual routes.

The Mobility Secretariat recommended that those heading to the airport or the city center take alternative routes such as Avenida Mutis (Calle 63) or Avenida Esperanza to avoid being trapped in the traffic jam.
