At a gala held this Thursday, January 22 at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Bogotá, gymnast Keynher Camilo Vera was awarded the prestigious Altius de Oro in the “Promise of the Year” category.

This recognition highlights his exceptional performance in sports that make up the Olympic Games program, consolidating him as the most relevant young figure in national sports after his brilliant performance on the international scene.

Vera’s rise to the top of the Altius Awards podium is based on her historic participation in the World Junior Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Manila, Philippines.

There, the Colombian exhibited impeccable technique that allowed him to win two gold medals: on parallel bars, with a score of 13.866, and on fixed bar, where he dominated with a score of 14.533.

The category podium was completed by two other exceptional talents. The Silver Altius was awarded to track cyclist Valeria Hernández, who was proclaimed junior world keirin runner-up in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, missing the gold by just 0.024 seconds.

For its part, the Bronze Altius was in the hands of Tomás Restrepo, the first Colombian to win the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup, after a historic score of 19 under par.

The ceremony not only celebrated the numbers and medals, but the projection of a generation that promises to keep Colombia in the sports elite.
