Minute30.com .- In the last hours, President Gustavo Petro made official the departure of Adith Rafael Romero Polanco from the direction of the Victims Unit. Romero, who had come to office in June 2025, was declared insubsistent, closing a cycle of just over seven months at the head of the entity in charge of reparation for survivors of the conflict.

The news was confirmed by Romero himself through an emotional message on his social networks, where he said goodbye to the beneficiaries and officials of the institution.

The replacement: Breiner Rafael Osorio Pinto takes over the job

In order not to leave a power vacuum in an entity so critical for total peace, the National Government appointed Breiner Rafael Osorio Pinto as director in charge by the same decree.

Profile of the new director (e):

Training: Specialist in Public Management.

Master’s Degree: He has a university master’s degree in Human Rights.

Challenge: Continue with the ambitious goal of compensation and territorial care in a year where the budget for victims will be the center of debate in Congress.

“I go out with my head held high”: Romero’s words

In his farewell message on Facebook, Adith Romero appeared serene in the face of the presidential decision: “I am leaving calmly, in peace and with my head held high,” said the former official.

He stated that, although Decree 0055 of January 22, 2026, removes him from the administrative position, “they will never remove him from the hearts of the survivors.”

He described his 7 and a half months in office as an experience of “pure adrenaline,” highlighting his commitment to the cause of victims throughout the national territory.

Why the change?

Although the decree does not specify the underlying reasons for declaring non-subsistence, in the corridors of the Casa de Nariño there is talk of a search for greater speed in the execution of administrative reparation resources, one of the greatest criticisms that the entity has received in recent periods.
