Independiente Santa Fe confirmed its hierarchy in Colombian football by becoming champion of the 2026 Super League.

After an intense series, the “Cardenal” team managed to prevail with authority against Junior de Barranquilla, sealing a win in the second leg that unleashed euphoria in the country’s capital.

With this new trophy, the “Lions” achieve their fifth crown in the history of this competition, consolidating themselves as the top reference in the tournament.

The definition began to take shape in the first leg played at the Metropolitan Stadium, where both teams signed a 1-1 draw.

On that occasion, the experienced Hugo Rodallega put the Bogota team ahead at the close of the first half (45+6′), while Teófilo Gutiérrez rescued equality for “El Tiburón” at minute 73.

However, parity would be definitively broken at the El Campín Stadium, where Santa Fe showed its best version.

In the second leg, the home team left no room for doubt. Ewil Murillo opened the scoring just in the 5th minute, marking the way to victory.

Before going to half-time, Rodallega reappeared at 45+3′ to extend the lead, and finally, Nahuel Bustos sealed the final 3-0 in stoppage time (90+4′).

With an aggregate score of 4-1, Santa Fe demonstrated tactical and physical superiority that left the Barranquilla team without options.

The other side of the coin is experienced by Junior de Barranquilla, who is going through an early crisis in this 2026 season.

The arrival of the star Luis Fernando Muriel has not been enough to right the course, since the forward has had to witness the defeat of his team in the two games he has played.

The outlook is worrying for the “La Arenosa” team: after three games played, they have accumulated one draw and two losses, registering a critical performance of just 11%.
