Starting this Monday, January 26, mobility in the vicinity of the Northern Transportation Terminal will undergo two structural modifications due to the progress in the foundations of the Metro 80 viaduct.

The most critical intervention will be the total closure of Carrera 64B, popularly known as the “Vía del Caracol”, which connects those coming from Regional Avenue with the North Highway at the height of the Mico Bridge.

This closure forces a redesign in the flows of the Caribbean area. The vehicles and bus routes that usually took this connection to get on the North Highway must now continue straight along Regional Avenue until the TCC company, turn onto 67th Street (Barranquilla Avenue) and from there return to the Highway.

This change in mobility will directly impact routes such as 260i-Seminario, 286, 313 and circulars 306A and 306B, so the authorities recommend leaving with extra time to avoid congestion on the new detour.

Parallel to this closure, the Medellín Metro announced the transfer of the Caribe stop on Line O buses. Currently located on Regional Avenue, the stop will move to Carrera 65, right in front of the Institute of Legal Medicine.

This implies a change in the dynamics of pedestrians: those who wish to transfer between the bus and the Caribe Metro station will now have to cross the North Terminal. To facilitate this transition, educational guides and special signage have been provided within the terminal to guide the thousands of users who make this journey daily.

These works are essential for the underground transfer of public service networks and the construction of the bases where the future 80 train will run.

Although the changes generate temporary trauma, the Medellín Metro emphasized that these works have the endorsement of the Ministry of Mobility and are mandatory steps for the modernization of the mass transportation system.

The invitation to citizens is to maintain understanding and consult the detour maps before starting their tours through this strategic sector of the capital of Antioquia.
