A group of 47 women heads of households from Medellín began a new training process that seeks to strengthen their economic autonomy, their emotional well-being and their life projects, thanks to the second cohort of the Mujeres Tejiendo Hogares program, promoted by the Mayor’s Office of Medellín through the Office of the First Lady.
The beneficiaries, residents of the Olaya and La Cruz neighborhoods, will participate in comprehensive support that combines technical training, personal development and strengthening family ties, with the aim of generating income autonomously and building protective environments for their homes.

According to the mayor’s office, the program is aimed at women who, due to various circumstances, have had difficulties accessing work or educational opportunities, many of them dedicated to caring for their children and supporting their families.
The first lady of Medellín, Margarita María Gómez Marín, explained that the initiative seeks to respond to the daily realities of thousands of women in the city. “We want to provide tools that strengthen their being and, at the same time, allow them to undertake and generate income from their own homes”he pointed out.
Comprehensive training and strategic alliances
During the process, participants will receive training in life skills, emotional support to heal wounds and strengthen family ties, as well as spaces to project personal and family goals through the construction of a dream map.

In the productive component, women will have practical training in cooking, thanks to the alliance with the Imusa Foundation. Likewise, with the support of Fundación Conconcreto, Fundación Saciar, Fundación Haceb and Tiendas Ara, they will access modules in marketing, sales, digital marketing and commercial strategies to promote their ventures.
More than training, a life project
The women who are part of Mujeres Tejiendo Hogares face conditions of vulnerability related to their economic situation, age and role within the home. Therefore, the program not only provides technical knowledge, but also promotes the construction of solid life projects, economic independence and the strengthening of the family and community fabric.
With this new cohort, Medellín reaffirms its commitment to female empowerment and closing gaps, providing real opportunities for more women to be protagonists of their own development.
