This Wednesday, January 21, the National Institute of Legal Medicine reported that, after exhaustive forensic analyzes carried out on the 26 bodies recovered in the Cubay village, rural area of El Retorno, Guaviare, it was established that four of the victims are minors.

The report details that these are three women and a man, whose lives were extinguished in the midst of a bloody armed confrontation involving dissident factions of the FARC.

The balance delivered from the Villavicencio headquarters indicates that, of the 26 corpses approached, 21 correspond to men and five to women.

So far, 24 people have been fully identified, while experts continue working to establish the identity of the remaining two.

This massacre is the result of a “war to the death” between the Central General Staff (EMC), led by alias ‘Iván Mordisco’, and the Block General Staff (EMBF) alias ‘Calarcá’, who dispute the control of illegal economies and drug trafficking routes in the Colombian Amazon.

The presence of minors in the conflict area has raised alarm among human rights organizations, since everything indicates that these children and adolescents would have been victims of forced recruitment by criminal structures.

To expedite the delivery of the bodies to their families, Legal Medicine has deployed nine interdisciplinary teams with experts from Bogotá, Meta and Cundinamarca.
