What began as a brave citizen reaction to arrest an alleged criminal who intended to commit a theft, ended in a video that has become wildfire on social networks due to the suspect’s defiant attitude.

Far from being intimidated by the presence of the Metropolitan Police, the subject of foreign origin uttered a phrase that ignited the fury of the witnesses: “Take note of my face. We came to Colombia to steal.”

The incident occurred in broad daylight when the community, tired of the crime that plagues its streets, decided to intercept the man and a woman who was accompanying him. In the midst of the complaints and the cell phone cameras that recorded the event, the noted criminal maintained a position of absolute arrogance, insulting those who rebuked him.

This case puts on the table the difficult security panorama that Soacha faces. Although Police figures indicate that 2025 closed with a 16.2% increase in operations, reaching 2,122 arrests, citizens feel that the effort is insufficient if those captured leave after a few days or, worse still, mock their victims at the time of arrest.

For now, it is expected that the victims will file formal complaints with the Attorney General’s Office to begin the judicialization process.
