The justice system imposed sentences of up to 17 years in prison against two men found responsible for serious crimes against life, committed in different violent events recorded in Cali during 2025. The sentences were obtained by the Attorney General’s Office and were now final, without the judges granting judicial benefits to those convicted.
According to the accusing body, the events left three people attacked with firearms: two women who lost their lives and a man who managed to survive thanks to the quick medical attention received after being injured.
One of the cases corresponds to Harold Perlaza, who was sentenced to 16 years and 9 months in prison for the homicide of a woman that occurred on January 19, 2025 in the Pízamos I neighborhood. In the same attack, the victim’s brother was also hit by gunshots, but managed to recover after being promptly transferred to a care center. The investigation determined that the attack was surprising and occurred while the victims were sharing with other people.
The second court ruling fell on José Luis Varela, sentenced to 17 years in prison for the murder of a woman that occurred on July 26, 2025 in the Chiminangos II neighborhood. According to authorities, the crime took place on a public road, when the victim was talking to another person.

In both processes, those involved accepted the charges freely and voluntarily, with the support of their lawyers. The judges declared them responsible, according to their individual participation, for crimes of homicide, attempted homicide and illegal possession of firearms, all aggravated behaviors.
The authorities reiterated that these rulings are part of the judicial actions aimed at clarifying violent events and guaranteeing justice for the victims of crimes against life in the capital of Valle del Cauca.
