The town of Usme, south of Bogotá, was the scene of urban control operations that resulted in the capture of two people and the seizure of yellow machinery used for illegal interventions in protected areas. The actions were developed in the Agroparque Los Soches and Agroparque La Requilina sectors, both recognized for their environmental and landscape value.
In Agroparque Los Soches, staff from the Local Mayor’s Office of Usme, together with the District Secretariat of Security, Coexistence and Justice (SDSCJ), the Bogotá Police and its group of Carabineros, responded to an early warning that indicated earthworks carried out with a mini backhoe. After verifying the coordinates of the intervention in the National System of Protected Areas and the Environmental Baseline of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Cundinamarca (CAR), it was confirmed that the activities were carried out within protected areas.
The case was classified as illegal urban planning, in accordance with article 318 of the Penal Code. The Police captured the person responsible for the work and the machinery was placed in the custody of the Local Mayor’s Office, ensuring the preservation of the area and compliance with environmental and urban planning regulations.
