The authorities of Bogotá left in custody a citizen of foreign nationality who recorded himself spreading messages of intimidation and alleged threats related to theft in different parts of the city, especially on Caracas Avenue and in the public transportation system.
The location of the man was possible thanks to a joint operation between the District Secretariat of Security, Coexistence and Justice (SDSCJ), Migration Colombia and the Metropolitan Police of Bogotá, after videos went viral in which the subject warned citizens that he would not return stolen belongings, generating fear among passersby.
According to the authorities, the man was working as an automotive painter in a vehicle workshop located in the Prado Veraniego neighborhood, in the town of Suba, where officials went to verify his immigration status. During the procedure, it was established that the citizen did not carry identification documents, nor did he have a work visa, temporary protection permit or any other document that would prove his legal stay in the country.
Migration Colombia confirmed that the foreigner has remained irregularly in Colombia since 2021, which is why they must face an administrative sanctioning process that could lead to their deportation or expulsion from the national territory.

The District Security Secretary, César Restrepo, warned that actions that generate fear or intimidation will not be allowed in Bogotá, even when presented as content for social networks. According to the official, this type of behavior will be faced with the support of all the competent authorities.
In parallel, Migración Colombia began an administrative process against the commercial establishment where the foreigner worked, which could face fines of up to 15 current legal monthly minimum wages, for alleged irregularities related to the hiring of people without valid immigration status.
Finally, the authorities reiterated the call to citizens to report any criminal act or act contrary to coexistence through Emergency Line 123, highlighting that the information provided by the community is key to advancing sanctioning processes and strengthening the fight against crime in the capital.
