Under the orders of Professor Fredy Hurtado, the national team advances in its first microcycle of the year, combining physical rigor and tactical strategy to consolidate the final group.
The Colombian Men’s U-17 National Team does not let its guard down. In the city of Barranquilla, the team led by Fredy Hurtado is holding an intense ten-day concentration, designed to lay the foundations for its participation in the 2026 CONMEBOL U-17 tournament.
The national team’s schedule has been demanding. The coaching staff had eight days of double sessions focused on two main fronts.
On the one hand, physical conditioning, focused on muscle strengthening work in the gym, added to field exercises to optimize resistance and speed.
On the other hand, in the tactical strategy, executed during the remaining days, the focus will shift to working by demarcations and perfecting the critical phases and moments of the game.
Furthermore, as a litmus test, the “Tricolor” will play two friendly matches that will serve to evaluate the individual and collective performance of those called up.

In statements to FCF Media, Valle del Cauca coach Fredy Hurtado shared his vision about this first training cycle, highlighting the importance of the mix between experience and renewal.
“The idea is to consolidate a group and then continue giving them content. We want to have a team that is much closer to the one that will be in the South American. This is what we are doing with this call: seeing new guys and others who have been in previous processes,” said the coach.
This microcycle represents the logistical and sporting starting point to form a competitive roster.
The Colombian Football Federation seeks that this observation process will allow it to identify the most suitable talents to represent the country in next year’s continental event.
