The old road that connects Medellín with the township of San Antonio de Prado had to be completely closed after a collapse was recorded on the bridge bench, near the La Limona sector.

According to the Medellín Mobility Secretariat, the emergency occurred on Carrera 54F with Calle 57 Sur, a border point with the municipality of Itagüí, where an undercut was detected that compromises the stability of the road and represents a high risk for drivers and pedestrians.

After the initial technical inspection, the authorities made the decision to completely close the vehicular passage, while the real extent of the damage is evaluated and the necessary actions for the recovery of the affected section are defined.

The closure of this road directly impacts the mobility of hundreds of people who travel daily to and from San Antonio de Prado, since entry and exit from the township were enabled only by the new road, which has generated increases in travel times and congestion during peak hours.

Mobility officials called on citizens to plan their trips in advance, heed the instructions of traffic agents and stay informed through official channels, while technical studies progress that will allow establishing whether a fundamental intervention is required in the structure.
