In a lightning operation that seems straight out of an action movie, elite forces from the United States Southern Command attacked the oil tanker ‘La Verónica’ in Caribbean waters this Thursday, January 15.
Footage captured during the mission shows Marines rappelling from helicopters onto the deck of the vessel, marking the sixth seizure under Operation Southern Spear.
According to the Pentagon, the ship was operating in defiance of the “quarantine” imposed by President Donald Trump, who has made it clear that “the only oil that will leave Venezuela will be that coordinated legally.”
While the cannons roar in the sea, a new geopolitical order is being woven in the presidential offices. Donald Trump confirmed a “productive and courteous” phone call with the interim president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, who assumed command after the capture of Nicolás Maduro on January 3.

Trump, who described Rodríguez as a “fantastic person,” announced an ambitious plan to inject at least $100 billion of U.S. private capital to rebuild the South American country’s oil infrastructure, which is in critical condition after years of disinvestment.
For her part, from the Miraflores Palace, Delcy Rodríguez announced that this “new political moment” has already borne fruit with the release of more than 400 political prisoners and the return of American citizens to their country.
