Just seven months after handing over power, President Gustavo Petro decided to kick the board and order a profound shake-up in his government team.

The events occur before the departure of Juan Carlos Florián from the Ministry of Equality, to whom the president requested his formal resignation last Monday, January 12.

Florián, whose management was marked by controversies over his gender identity and a budget execution that barely touched 5%, leaves office amid strong criticism from the opposition, which describes his time at the entity as an absolute failure.

The “sweep” of the presidential palace does not stop there. This Wednesday, January 14, it was confirmed that Jorge Lemus, a man of complete confidence of the president and former colleague in the M-19, leaves the direction of the National Intelligence Department (DNI).

Although Lemus will not leave the Government and will be rotated to a new position, his replacement is already ready: it is René Guarín, another former M-19 militant who is part of the president’s inner circle.

This shakeup seeks to oxygenate the areas of security and execution, at a time when surveys and low administrative efficiency have the Casa de Nariño on the ropes.

As if that were not enough, the director of Dapre, Angie Rodríguez, also presented her irrevocable resignation to assume the management of the Adaptation Fund, after months of internal tensions for disobeying direct orders from the president.

Voices like that of Congresswoman Catherine Juvinao have not been slow to react, pointing out that these changes are “little tricks” to hide the lack of execution of resources, especially in the Ministry of Equality.
