The Colombian justice system imposed a 45-year prison sentence against Daniel Josué, found guilty of the sexual abuse, disappearance and murder of the 9-year-old girl Laura Valentina Páez, in events that occurred in January 2025 in the municipality of Chiquinquirá, Boyacá.
After accepting the charges formulated by the Attorney General’s Office, a judge of knowledge handed down a conviction for the crimes of aggravated feminicide, forced disappearance and abusive carnal access, all in competition. The ruling was final, since none of the parties filed appeals.
According to the investigation carried out by a prosecutor from the Boyacá Section, with the support of the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) and the Sijín of the National Police, the events date back to January 16, 2025, when Laura Valentina Páez left her place of residence to walk her pet within a residential complex in the municipality.

At that moment, Daniel Josué would have approached the girl on a public road and, using deception, put her into a private vehicle.
During the journey to a rural area of the municipality of Nariño (Boyacá), the convicted man sexually abused the minor and later asphyxiated her. Then, in order to hide the crime, he threw the body into the waters of the Minero River, where it was located by the authorities five days later.

In the development of the investigative work, the authorities located the vehicle used in the events in a brass and painting workshop, where the convicted person had taken it after the crime. In the technical inspections, biological fluids and other evidence were found, which were analyzed by the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, allowing the body of evidence against them to be strengthened.
In addition to the custodial sentence, the convicted person was disqualified for 20 years from exercising public rights and functions.
The Prosecutor’s Office highlighted that this ruling represents a strong message regarding the crimes committed against children and adolescents, and reiterated its commitment to the criminal prosecution of this type of behavior.
